Curriculum Project

Got a lesson you want to share with others? A teaching idea you’d like to develop?  A desire to connect with other teachers, historians, and museum professionals?

The Challenging History Curriculum Committee seeks lessons with a focus on St. Louis that exemplify the organization’s common interest in correcting and expanding the historical record in order to refine our collective understanding of difficult episodes from our past. We welcome lesson submissions from any K-12 teacher in the St. Louis and Metro East region that empower students and teachers in ways that encourage all of us to question traditional narratives and build a fuller understanding. Submitted lessons will be considered according to the criteria below and selected teachers will collaborate in a workshop format to prepare their lessons for publication on the Challenging History Website.

Benefits:

  • Selected teachers will be recognized as Distinguished Teacher by Challenging History, and their lessons will be featured on the website
  • Connections with other teachers dedicated to the Challenging History mission.
  • Professional development driven by your teaching goals as you workshop lessons within a supportive network of teachers and historians.
  • Showcase your work on the Challenging History website and through presentation at future Missouri Council for History Education conferences.
